Gravity

We see the dark only because there is light.
We feel warmth only because there is cold.

Presence and absence are only meaningful together.
Hard and easy are how we take in our experiences.
A long stick, a short stick.
Up and down.
Top, bottom,
One side of the coin or the other.

Wisdom is not about choosing one or the other

Opposites appear everywhere,
But do not hold existence.
Gravity works, but doesn't make a fuss of it.
It happens, it just is,
Always there.

I took a lot of liberties with this one. Call it my response to it, not simply an interpretation. And quite by accident, opened Brewer's to -
Monism: The doctrine of the oneness of mind and matter, God and the universe. It ignores all that is supernatural, any dualism of mind and matter.
-Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, 1963 p.616.

There is more, but it's a longer entry than I'm up to typing in this evening.
